The vermilion border of the lips has no sebaceous glands and no sweat glands, making it structurally incapable of producing its own lipid seal. Research measuring transepidermal water loss across all facial zones confirmed that the lips record the highest moisture loss rate of any area on the face.¹ What a gloss sits in determines how much of that deficit it addresses alongside the shine it delivers.

The Opuliss Lip Gloss formula is built on a hydrogenated polydecene and hydrogenated polyisobutene base, two high-refractive-index synthetic polymers that create the optical clarity behind true gloss. Bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2 is a plant-derived ester that functions as a skin-conditioning emollient within the polymer matrix, softening the occlusive feel of a pure polymer base. Ozokerite provides structural body without heaviness. Glyceryl caprylate contributes both emolliency and mild antimicrobial activity at the surface, documented in cosmetic safety literature as a well-tolerated multifunctional ingredient.² BHT protects the formula against oxidative degradation. Colorants across the shade range are drawn from iron oxides, mica, and borosilicate glass-derived pigments, all within the EU lip area positive list.³
