The formula you chose

Clear gel spread thin across a pale ground, CELLULAR ANTI-AGING RESURFACING CONCENTRATE

CELLULAR ANTI-AGING RESURFACING CONCENTRATE

Smoother, more refined skin texture

Smooths and resurfaces with lactic acid.

The texture

A leave-on resurfacing concentrate built on 10% Lactic Acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that loosens surface corneocyte cohesion at pH 4.0 to 4.2 to help refine the look of texture. This fluid serum smooths the appearance of uneven tone, supported by hydrating Sodium Hyaluronate and antioxidant White Tea and Sage, for photoaged and blemish-prone skin seeking visible renewal.

The study behind it

Lactic Acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid studied in cosmetics for gently exfoliating the skin's surface, supporting a smoother, more even-looking texture.1

  1. 1 Smith WP. Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1996 (PMID 8784274).

How to use it

  1. Apply two to three drops to clean skin in the evening, two to three times per week.
  2. Begin with one application per week and titrate up as tolerated.
  3. Avoid contact with eyes and lips. Always layer with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily. AHA leave-on products increase the skin's sensitivity to UV exposure.

Your weekly two-step ritual

Step 1, cleanse

ARGAN BOTANICAL CLEANSING MILK

190 ml, $110.00

Step 2, exfoliate

CELLULAR ANTI-AGING RESURFACING CONCENTRATE

Smooths and resurfaces with lactic acid.

30 ml, $325.00

The argan cleansing milk lifts makeup and surface oil without stripping. The 10% lactic acid concentrate then smooths the look of texture.

Dialled to what your skin tolerates

Exfoliation and masking are the weekly steps in a routine rather than the daily ones. This collection holds both the mechanical and the acid-based options, alongside clay formats that draw down surface residue, so the frequency can be dialled to what the skin tolerates.

The actives behind the collection

The four actives named in these formulas' own claims, each with the source its record cites.

Kaolin clay

Mineral clay that absorbs excess oil. A kaolin and bentonite clay mask lowered skin oil over four weeks of twice-weekly use.

Zhang X, et al. Skin Research and Technology, 2023 (PMID 38009030).

Lactic acid

A gentle AHA that exfoliates to smooth texture and refine the look of tone.

Smith WP. Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1996 (PMID 8784274).

Glycolic acid

A small-molecule AHA that exfoliates to smooth texture and boost radiance.

Thibault PK, et al. Dermatologic Surgery, 1998 (PMID 9598014).

Kojic acid

A fungus-derived active, studied for the appearance of dark spots and a more even-looking tone.

Questions

What not to use with lactic acid?

Until your skin is used to this concentrate, avoid using it in the same routine as strong retinoid or BHA (salicylic acid) products, and keep it off broken, irritated or sunburned skin. Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid, which can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so the FDA advises a sunscreen, protective clothing and limited sun exposure while you use it and for a week afterwards.

Is lactic acid good for skin?

Lactic Acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid studied in cosmetics for gently exfoliating the skin's surface, supporting a smoother, more even-looking texture.

How do I use it?

Apply two to three drops to clean skin in the evening, two to three times per week. Begin with one application per week and titrate up as tolerated.

What is this and who is it for?
